How Pocket Money Works
A simple, safe way for young people to earn and neighbours to get help
For Young Earners
1. Create Your Profile
Sign up for free. If you're under 18, we'll send your parent or guardian a consent form to approve. Add the services you want to offer (dog walking, lawn mowing, babysitting, etc.) and set how far you're willing to travel.
2. Get Vouched For
Ask neighbours, family friends, or teachers who know you to vouch for you. The more vouches you have, the more trustworthy you appear to potential clients. It's like having references built right into your profile.
3. Find & Apply for Tasks
Browse tasks posted by neighbours in your area. When you find one that fits your skills and schedule, apply with a message introducing yourself. The task poster will review applications and choose who to hire.
4. Complete the Job & Get Paid
Do a great job, and you'll get paid through the platform. Build up positive ratings and more vouches to get even more work in the future!
For Neighbours Needing Help
1. Post Your Task
Describe what you need help with - whether it's walking your dog, mowing your lawn, or collecting your mail while you're away. Set your budget and preferred timing.
2. Review Workers & Vouches
Local young workers will apply for your task. Check their profiles, see who has vouched for them (maybe someone you know!), and read their ratings from previous jobs.
3. Choose & Connect
Pick the worker you want to hire and message them to finalise the details. You're always in control of who you hire.
4. Get It Done & Rate
Once the task is complete, pay through the platform and leave a rating. Your feedback helps other neighbours find great workers.

What does it cost to use Pocket Money?
It's free to join for both workers and task posters. We take a 10% commission on completed jobs, which is added to the task cost and paid by the poster.
How old do you have to be to work on Pocket Money?
You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, you'll need parental consent to create an account. Some tasks like babysitting may have higher age requirements.
How do payments work?
Payments are processed securely through the platform. Task posters pay when the job is completed, and workers receive their earnings (minus our small commission) directly.
What if something goes wrong?
We have a dispute resolution process for any issues that arise. You can also report users who violate our community guidelines. Safety is our top priority.
